About the Department

The Department of Psychiatry at Krishna Hospital began its journey in 1984 as a part of the Department of Medicine. In 2011, it became an independent department with its own admission facility and is currently the only State Mental Health Authority-approved facility in Karad, as per the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017.
The department is well-staffed, equipped with modern and advanced facilities, and provides psychiatric education and training to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.In addition, the department offers extensive skill training and innovative mental health services for students through the Students’ Guidance Cell, as well as for faculty and staff. We collaborate with multiple institutions to provide clinical support, psychological care, self-help initiatives, and awareness programs within and outside the institute.
The department has also received several copyrights and extramural research grants, and our faculty members hold prominent positions in the institute and various regional, state, and national psychiatric societies.
