About the Department

The Department of Pharmacognosy at Krishna Institute of Pharmacy focuses on the study of crude drugs obtained mainly from plants. The department aims to identify, isolate, and analyze bioactive compounds from natural sources and understand their pharmacological and therapeutic significance. We strive to train students with the knowledge and skills required to meet the growing demands of the herbal drug industry and the competitive fields of pharmaceutical education, research, and industry.
Our faculty is committed to fostering a supportive and progressive learning environment. Through innovative teaching methods and state-of-the-art facilities, we ensure the holistic development of students. Faculty members are actively involved in research areas such as extraction, isolation, standardization of herbal drugs, and medicinal plant biotechnology, while encouraging students to participate in research projects.

Our expertise covers Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, Herbal Drug Technology, Quality Control and Standardization of Herbals, Plant Tissue Culture, and Nutraceuticals.
