About the Department

Pediatric Dentistry is an age-defined specialty that provides comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants, children, and adolescents — including those with special health care needs.
The Department of Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry conducts programs for BDS, MDS, and Ph.D. students, focusing on child-friendly dental education and treatment excellence.

HOD & Professor

Dr. N. D. Shashikiran

Dr. Shashikiran N. D. is an experienced Paedodontist, insightful clinician, and dedicated academician, recognized for his sincerity, innovation, and pursuit of perfection. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Bapuji Dental College and Hospital, Karnataka, in 1989, followed by a Master of Dental Surgery in Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry in 1992. He currently serves as the Dean, Professor, and Head of the Department of Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry at the School of Dental Sciences, KIMSDU, Karad.
