Orthopaedics

About the Department

Established in 1984, the Department of Orthopaedics has evolved from a sub-specialty of General Surgery to a recognized super-specialty center of excellence. Over the years, the department has been guided by visionary pioneers dedicated to advancing orthopaedic education and patient care. Postgraduate programs were introduced in 1991, and in 2007, the department expanded with additional MS and Diploma seats. It boasts a team of highly experienced senior faculty, alongside dynamic young associates and assistant professors.
The department continually enhances skills through training programs, workshops, and research initiatives, achieving a 100% success rate in postgraduate examinations. It was the first department to introduce the OSCE evaluation system for undergraduate students. Specialized services include joint replacement, spine surgeries, trauma management, deformity correction, and collaboration with Oncology and Radiotherapy for bone tumor management.
