M.Ch. (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery)
The M.Ch. Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery program at KVV is a comprehensive super-specialty course that trains surgeons in a wide range of reconstructive, cosmetic, microsurgical, and trauma-related procedures. The curriculum combines foundational knowledge with hands-on training in advanced surgical techniques.
Overview
This 3-year program aims to develop skilled plastic surgeons capable of managing both routine and complex reconstructive and aesthetic surgical cases. Students undergo rigorous training in craniofacial surgery, microsurgery, burns, hand surgery, trauma, and cosmetic procedures, with exposure to critical care, interdisciplinary practice, and research.

Year 1:

- Basic sciences related to plastic surgery
- Wound healing, anatomy, physiology, and grafting techniques
- History and evolution of plastic surgery
- Practical: clinical examinations, record-keeping, ward rounds
- Postings: General OT, OPD, burns unit, orthopedics (15 days)
Year 2:
Semester

- Head and neck reconstruction
- Microsurgical repair and peripheral nerve injuries
- Craniofacial and maxillofacial surgeries
- Breast surgery, cleft lip & palate
- Elective postings: oncosurgery, radiology, anesthesia (15 days each)
Year 3:

Semester V & VI
- Cosmetic procedures (rhinoplasty, liposuction, blepharoplasty)
- Complex reconstructions (abdominal wall, perineum, gender reassignment)
- Hand transplant, tendon transfers, and limb salvage
- Final thesis submission & surgical log book assessment
- End-of-term assessments (theory + practical)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Annual Intake:
- 1 seat per year
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Must hold a recognized MS (General Surgery) degree from a university approved by MCI/NMC.
- Must have permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council (or obtain it within 1 month of admission).
- Should be able to work as a full-time resident for the 3-year duration.
- Admission is based on NEET merit, with a minimum 5 percentile or as prescribed by the Government of India.
- Selection follows the rules of the constituent college/institution and MCI/NMC regulations.
- Candidate must undergo three years of regular study and research with at least 80% attendance in each subject (theory and practical).
- Must show satisfactory performance, certified by course faculty and the Dean.
