Theme: “Your Medication Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI”
The 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week – 2025 was inaugurated at Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, KVV (Deemed to be University), Karad on 17th September 2025 at 10:30 am at Tierra Hall (S1).
The ceremony was graced by:
- Chief Guest: Shri. Nitin S. Deore (Chief Chemist, B.J. Medical College & Sassoon Hospital, Pune)
- Guest of Honour: Dr. Vijay V. Kanase (Medical Director, Krishna Charitable Hospital, Karad)
- Presiding Officer: Dr. M. V. Ghorpade (Registrar, KVV)
- Dean, KIP: Dr. Namdeo R. Jadhav
The event aimed to promote ADR (Adverse Drug Reaction) reporting through digital platforms, strengthen the culture of medication safety, and reinforce India’s Pharmacovigilance Programme (PvPI). During the inauguration, dignitaries released ICT materials designed by Pharm. D students, reflecting this year’s national theme.
Key Highlights from the Ceremony
Dr. M. V. Ghorpade emphasized the institution’s active role in pharmacovigilance and shared insights on the current status of the PvPI Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre (AMC) at the university.
Dr. Vijay V. Kanase highlighted the need to stay vigilant regarding untoward effects of medicines and described the pharmacist’s essential role in ensuring medication safety and awareness across the healthcare system.
Shri. Nitin S. Deore, in his keynote address, underlined that effective FDA regulatory actions rely heavily on accurate ADR reporting. He encouraged students to help overcome the persistent issue of underreporting by engaging the community.
Dr. Namdeo R. Jadhav stressed the professional responsibility of pharmacists in promoting safe medication practices and their role as key stakeholders in healthcare.

The inaugural event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bijoy Kumar Panda (Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Pharmacy Practice), reaffirming KIP’s commitment to fostering safer healthcare practices.
