Established Year: 2006

Florence Nightingale transformed public perception of nursing through her exceptional dedication, establishing the foundation of nursing as a profession with purpose and direction.
Today, nurses play a vital role in healthcare organizations, equipped with advanced skills and knowledge. Hospital nursing has evolved into a highly specialized field, encompassing areas such as critical care, neonatal and pediatric care, cardiac care, burns, oncology, urology, and operation theatre nursing. While their core duty of caring for the sick, injured, and disabled remains central, the modern nurse also focuses on health promotion and illness prevention, reflecting the expanding scope of the profession.

Key Person

Dean, Krishna Institute Of Nursing Sciences

Dr. (Mrs.) Vaishali Rajsinh Mohite

A distinguished nursing academic with over 30 years of experience, Dr. Vaishali Mohite has led innovations in nursing education, including the Ph.D. in Nursing and M.Sc. Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care programs. She has published 117 research papers (40 Scopus-indexed) and represented India at BRICS, ICM Asia-Pacific, and UNESCO Bioethics forums.
A Duke University scholar (2022) and ICN Leadership alumna, she has built global collaborations with UQTR (Canada), Germany, UK, and Ethiopia. Her honors include the Karmasiddhi Puraskar (2025) and Best Nursing Teacher Award (2023).
Under her leadership, the Breast Cancer Screening Initiative has screened 24,000+ rural women, while she continues to advance nursing education, research, and innovation at KINS.
