Fellowship in Neurosurgery - Cisternostomy
The Fellowship in Neurosurgery – Cisternostomy provides advanced training in managing traumatic brain injuries and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics, with a focus on cisternostomy techniques. The program enhances surgical precision, critical care expertise, and research capabilities in neurosurgic
Overview
This one-year fellowship at Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Karad, is designed for neurosurgeons seeking specialized expertise in cisternostomy. The program combines structured clinical training, supervised neurosurgical procedures, and exposure to modern neurocritical care practices. Fellows gain hands-on experience in cranial base anatomy, cerebrospinal fluid physiology, and microsurgical approaches to cisternostomy, supported by academic activities such as seminars, journal clubs, workshops, and research projects. The program prepares neurosurgeons for advanced clinical practice, teaching, and contributions to global neurosurgical innovations.
Fellows are trained to manage traumatic brain injury at all stages, perform cisternostomy using advanced microneurosurgical techniques, provide effective counseling, and contribute to the subspecialty through clinical practice and research.
To assess and stage patients with suspected or confirmed neurological conditions.
To counsel patients and families about treatment options, surgical risks, and palliative care.
To obtain detailed history, perform clinical examinations, and recommend investigations.
To develop strong communication and counseling skills for patient and family guidance.
Fellows advance from fundamentals to expertise—covering neuroanatomy, traumatic brain injury care, microsurgical cisternostomy techniques, and neurocritical management—building strong skills for clinical practice, research, and innovation in neurosurgery.
