About the Department

The Department of Community Medicine plays a vital role in training students in real community settings, with a special focus on rural healthcare. Students gain hands-on experience and orientation towards rural health challenges. The department also aligns with the two flagship programs of the Union Health Ministry – NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) and NUHM (National Urban Health Mission) – which aim to provide quality healthcare and strengthen existing national health programs. With over 25 years of dedicated community service, Krishna Institute has set clear objectives to prepare and train skilled community physicians for the future.

HOD & Professor

Dr. Vasundhara Vijay Ghorpade

Dr. Vasundhara V. Ghorpade (MBBS, MD, MBA) is a distinguished Professor and Head of the Department with over 22 years of teaching and academic experience. She completed her MBBS and MD from Government Medical College, Miraj (Shivaji University, Kolhapur) and further pursued an MBA in Hospital Administration and Healthcare Management from D.Y. Patil, Pune. Dr. Ghorpade actively contributes to academic leadership as the Chairman of the Board of Studies for Community Medicine and as a member of the College Council, Staff Scientific Society, Joint College Council, Academic Council, and Internal Assessment Committee. She holds life membership with the Indian Association of Preventive & Social Medicine (IAPSM).
