Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Karad organized an industrial visit to S.G. Phyto Pharma Ltd. and Ripcord Pharmaceuticals, Kolhapur, offering students hands-on exposure to both Ayurvedic and modern pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. The visit was conducted under the leadership of Dr. N. R. Jadhav, Dean, KIP, and accompanied by Mr. Raghwendra R. Waghmode and Ms. Jyotsana M. Gandhi.
At S.G. Phyto Pharma, students explored an ayurvedic manufacturing unit renowned for its classical formulations. They gained insights into key process parameters, toxicity reduction techniques, and the drying and storage of medicinal herbs. Students visited Unit B-53 and Unit D-21, where they observed the preparation of various classical formulations such as Choorna, Bhasma, Kadha, Taila, Kshar, Guggul Kalpa, Khalvirasayanas, Parpati, Chyawanprash, and Kupipakwa Rasayanas.
They also witnessed:
- Diesel-fired and wood-fired Bhatti sections used for large-scale preparation of Kadha, Taila, and Kupipakwa Rasayanas
- Dedicated sections for Panchdravya Shodhan, Maaran, Amrutikaran Vidhi, and Dolayantra Vidhi for raw material purification
- Cone blender operations for bulk mixing
- Fully automatic capsule filling machine (capacity: 70,000 capsules/hour)
- Semi-automatic capsule filling unit
- Blister packing line
- Liniment section with automatic bottle labelling
- Sensor-based laser label printing system
- Digitally controlled environmental conditions for temperature and humidity
At Ripcord Pharmaceuticals, students understood modern pharmaceutical processes including capsule filling and Fluidized Bed Dryer (FBD) operations used in tablet and capsule manufacturing.
The visit provided students with valuable industrial exposure and strengthened their understanding of both traditional Ayurvedic processing and modern pharmaceutical technologies.
