Established in 1984, the Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy began its journey with undergraduate teaching.
The Postgraduate program commenced in 2010 with one student per year, and since June 2020, the department admits three postgraduate students annually.
Regular lectures and clinical sessions are conducted for undergraduates, while PG activities such as seminars, journal clubs, symposiums, and histopathology clinics are held routinely.
Over the last three years, the department has introduced sclerotherapy and specialized treatments like biofillers, PRF, IPR, and dermoscopy studies, which are conducted regularly.
The department has organized four CMEs with workshops to date and has actively conducted free medical examination and skin camps in rural areas such as Munde.
It also hosts programs on tropical medicine for students from the United States, enhancing global learning and collaboration.

Dr. Varsha Pramod Jamale is a Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Karad. She has completed her M.B.B.S. and M.D. in Dermatology from B.J. Medical College, Pune, under Pune University. With 27 years of teaching experience, she is also a recognized guide for postgraduate students.
