Radio-diagnosis

About the Department

The Department of Radiodiagnosis was established in 1982 as an integral part of the hospital with two fixed X-ray units and a mobile unit. Over the years, advanced imaging facilities were added — Ultrasound (1986), CT Scan (1991), and MRI (2007) — and have since been regularly upgraded.

Today, the department is equipped with:

- 6 fixed X-ray units with image intensifiers and 8 mobile X-ray units with computerized radiography.
- Mammography and DSA systems forming a complete X-ray division.
- 5 advanced USG units with Doppler and elastography.
- 16-slice Multi-detector CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI units.
- PACS system with dedicated workstations for filmless functioning.

The department also houses a museum showcasing the history of medical imaging. Each year, it conducts over 80,000 examinations, including plain X-rays, mammographies, angiographies, CT scans, neuroradiology MRI, and image-guided interventional procedures.

Achievements
- Trained 59 MD and 39 DMRD graduates.
- Published 66 research papers in reputed journals.

Academics & Training

The department plays a dual role — providing high-quality patient services while training medical students.

- Faculty: 3 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, and 5 Senior Residents.
- Postgraduates: 28 MD students and 2 post-doctoral fellows currently enrolled.
- Programs:
1) UG: 15 days of Small Group Teaching (SGT) and 12 days of Large Group Teaching (LGT).
2) PG: Seminars, case discussions, webinars, mock exams, dissertations, research projects, and paper publications.
