B.Sc. Perfusion Technology

The B.Sc. Perfusion Technology program at KVV trains students in managing life-support systems used during heart surgeries. With a strong focus on cardiovascular care and surgical support, it prepares students for specialized roles in operation theaters, cardiac ICUs, and surgical teams.

Overview

The B.Sc. Perfusion Technology program at KVV is a 3-year undergraduate course with a 6-month compulsory clinical training component. It is designed to train students in operating heart-lung machines and managing cardiopulmonary bypass procedures during major heart surgeries. This specialized course builds strong foundational knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology related to cardiovascular and respiratory systems, along with extensive clinical exposure.

The Department of Perfusion Technology fosters in-depth understanding and hands-on skills in cardiovascular support, surgical procedures, and advanced perfusion techniques.

Human anatomy, cardiovascular physiology, and biochemistry

Perfusion techniques and extracorporeal circulation

Cardiopulmonary bypass and heart-lung machine operations

Pathology and pharmacology in cardiac and renal systems

Medical ethics, bioethics, biosafety, and emergency care

Monitoring systems in surgical settings (hemodynamic, neurological, etc.)

Recent advances in perfusion, pediatric cardiac care, and critical care protocols

Students explore perfusion science from fundamentals to advanced techniques—covering anatomy, cardiopulmonary bypass, monitoring systems, and emergency care—building strong skills for surgical support and critical care settings.
